VRV/VRF Systems

VRV/VRF (Variable Refrigerant Volume/Flow) systems are those that use VRV/VRF technology to increase system efficiency in the action of heating or cooling air. An external condensor can use VRV/VRF technology to circulate refrigerant at varying volume to individual evaporators and internal wall mount/cassette units. This allows the system to operate at much greater efficiency, with energy savings of up to 50% over a unit not employing this technology.

Ceiling Cassette

These systems typically comprise an internal ceiling recessed cassette unit connected to an external condensing unit. They are less conspicuous than typical units and can help to deliver air more centrally to a particular room. Cassette systems are one of the pieces of equipment most commonly visually associated with an Air Conditioning in unison with a wall mounted unit.

Cassette's are often employed over a wall unit due to the size of the room and the need to more centrally locate the conditioned air.

Air Handling Unit (AHU)

Air Handler units (AHU's) are devices that condition air as part of a HVAC system and then circulate it. It is a heavy piece of square like plant, comprising several small key components.

They are usually connected to distribution ductwork, travelling through the building to relevant areas, which also returns it to the AHU.

Ceiling or wall mounted

These are some of the easiest systems to install, maintain and service and the most commonly found installed in typical retail and commercial premises.

These are wall or ceiling mounted units that facilitate the circulation of air within a particular room, Cooling or Heating the air as required to maintain the room temperature set point. They are one of the most commonly recognised pieces of Air Conditioning equipment and are often mistakenly believed to be the entirety of the system. Almost always these will be connected to an external condenser unit which is what does the real conditioning work.

Air Source Heat Pump

Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air. This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems, or warm air convectors and hot water in your home.

The heat pump uses mechanical work, or some source of thermodynamic work (such as much higher-temperature heat source dissipating heat to lower temperatures) to accomplish the desired transfer of thermal energy from source to sink.
